چکیده

In this paper, we review recent developments concerning the application of lowdensity parity-check (LDPC) codes to the Gilbert-Elliott (GE) channel. Firstly, we discuss the analysis of LDPC estimation-decoding in these channels using density evolution. We show that the required conditions of density evolution are satisfied in the GE channel, and that analysis demonstrates that large potential gains over the memoryless assumption. We also give results which mitigate the complexity of characterizing the GE parameter space using DE. Subsequently, we give a design tool for finding good degree sequences for irregular LDPC codes in the GE channel. The degree sequences obtained using this technique are the best available codes for the GE channel.

Density Evolution Analysis of Robustness for LDPC Codes over the Gilbert-Elliott Channel

In this paper, we analyze the robustness for low-density parity-check (LDPC) codes over the Gilbert-Elliott (GE) channel. For this purpose we propose a density evolution method for the case where LDPC decoder uses the mismatched parameters for the GE channel. Using this method, we derive the region of tuples of true parameters and mismatched decoding parameters for the GE channel, where the dec...

Designing Very Good Low-Density Parity-Check Codes for the Gilbert-Elliott Channel

It has been shown using density evolution (DE) that joint estimation-decoding strategies have excellent performance for regular lowdensity parity-check (LDPC) codes in the GilbertElliott (GE) channel. However, DE is computationally intensive, and is therefore not suitable as a tool in searching for good degree sequences for irregular LDPC codes. In this paper, we present a reduced-complexity ap...

Decoding LDPC Convolutional Codes on Markov Channels

This paper describes a pipelined iterative technique for joint decoding and channel state estimation of LDPC convolutional codes over Markov channels. Example designs are presented for the Gilbert-Elliott discrete channel model. We also compare the performance and complexity of our algorithm against joint decoding and state estimation of conventional LDPC block codes. Complexity analysis reveal...

Improving the Rao-Nam secret key cryptosystem using regular EDF-QC-LDPC codes

This paper proposes an efficient joint secret key encryption-channel coding cryptosystem, based on regular Extended Difference Family Quasi-Cyclic Low-Density Parity-Check codes. The key length of the proposed cryptosystem decreases up to 85 percent using a new efficient compression algorithm. Cryptanalytic methods show that the improved cryptosystem has a significant security advantage over Ra...

Capacity-Achieving Codes for Noisy Channels with Bounded Graphical Complexity and Maximum Likelihood Decoding

In this paper, capacity-achieving codes for memoryless binary-input output-symmetric (MBIOS) channels under maximum-likelihood (ML) decoding with bounded graphical complexity are investigated. The graphical complexity of a code is defined as the number of edges in the graphical representation of the code per information bit and is proportional to the decoding complexity per information bit per ...
